International Daughters Day 2021, the fourth Sunday of September is a day celebrated annually for daughters all over the world. Daughters day is celebrated to make your daughter feel special and proud of being a girl, lady, or female child, and telling the world that they are not inferior rather superior to any males in all the provinces.

It is a sad fact that daughters are not treated well even in their homes, many parents consider their girl children as a burden only. They do not have the freedom to speak, study or play like boys, at such times, a woman has to go through a lot of difficulties to grow up in society.

In this scenario, the Government of India has introduced various schemes including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, CBSE Udaan Scheme, National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education, Balika Samriddhi Yojana to uplift girl children and secure their future.

Know the schemes for the benefit of your daughters

1. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a government scheme to protect girls from their social problems, promote the education of every girl child, and prevent gender discrimination.

  • Preventing gender-biased abortion and discrimination against daughters

2. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana aims to the daughter's future, it helps the parents of a girl child to keep a particular amount of money for their daughter's education and marriage expenses. This scheme is available at all India Post Offices or any branch of PSU banks.

3. CBSE Udaan Scheme

UDAAN-CBSE Scholarship Program or scheme is a collaboration of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Government of India, to ensure prestigious college admission to girl children including engineering and technical colleges across India.

  • Free course material and online resources for girl students in 11th and 12th grades.
  • Ensuring School fees should not exceed Rs 1500 per month
  • Rs 500 per month will be transferred to the girl students account for two years, subject to their promotion to Class 12th with 50 percent or more marks.

4. National Scheme of Incentives to Girls for Secondary Education

This government scheme is only available for girl children from SC/ST communities. It provides financial support for the eligible candidates up to Rs 3000 as a fixed deposit on their bank account, which can be withdrawn, only after the girl child completed her 10th standard and at the age of 18 with interest.

5. Balika Samriddhi Yojana

Balika Samriddhi Yojana by the Ministry of Women and Child Development scheme aiming to provide support for both education and survival for girl children and mothers who are under the poverty line. This scheme also aims to abolish early marriage customs. Balika Samriddhi Yojana provides annual scholarships amount Rs 300 to Rs 1000 according to the class and eligibility.
