World Environment Day 2020: Theme, History and Importance

World Environment Day 2020 Theme, Slogans: In these times when the whole world is together experiencing and fighting against an epidemic of coronavirus and most countries in lockdown, there is a revival of the Earth's atmosphere and the terrain itself. It is the sight of the Nature is busy itself trying to recover all the resources that man has destroyed. More than anything else, decades later, air and water have returned to usable conditions everywhere on earth, due to the lack of human activities and interventions in landforms.

Why is that important?

Because, like everything else, nature and its environment need a rest, to return all that man destroys, add to this the fact that no other organism can change the earth other than a human being. By the nature of humans, they have a tendency to look at everything undervalued, including resources from nature. And human beings anyway have a tendency to own whatever is available, including the resources they get from nature. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the light we experience, the mountains, the rivers, the seas, Whatever we use every day is a bounty of nature. Such resources are not just for ourselves but for every single living thing on earth has its right to use. It is important to respect them and understand their values.

The World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated worldwide on June 5th of every year, to get people to understand the importance of protecting the Earth's environment, resources, and its importance. The day is believed to have been designed by the UN General Assembly in 1972, the first day of the United Nations Conference on Human Environment. This is one of the largest annual events in the world where the United Nations is raising awareness among people.

The World Environment Day 2020's theme is 'Celebrate Biodiversity', the event will be hosted in Colombia, in cooperation with Germany. Like other living things, humans are a part of the Earth's ecosystem and cannot live alone or isolated, so this theme is exceptionally relevant.

Important Dates and Days of June

Even a slight change in nature caused by human intervention can badly affect the natural habitat of many species on Earth, causing them to disappear from the Earth. It can also affect the survival of other organisms. So, biodiversity is important for the survival of all organisms, either large or small in the ecosystem, whether on land or in water. With the food chain, and with everyday life, all living things are interconnected with other species of plants and animals on land or water, together, they have formed a nature friendly life-cycle on the planet, so we must realize that the absence of one can greatly affect one another.

Last year's theme was air pollution. This year, we need not just to forget the old theme, but also to educate and incorporate the new, we need it for our continued life on earth, to humans, as well as to other species and to nature itself.
