They used to travel to other parts of the world with the income from the tea shop in Kochi. The tea seller family's last trip was to Russia in the previous month.
The family has been featured on various travel and news pages. This tea shop was a hangout place for many travelers. Also, Vijayan and his wife Mohana were the inspiration of travelers.
Kerala Tourism Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas had visited their Sri Balaji tea shop as a visitor due to his love for travel.
In 14 years, the family has visited 26 countries. After moving from Cherthala to Kochi, traveling became a part of their life. Their first foreign trip was to Egypt in 2007, the land of Pharaohs. They also have visited the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, and Singapore.
Before Covid-19, they set aside about 300 rupees a day for traveling from the income of the tea shop. The additional amount has been borrowed from the bank along with the money set aside. This is how travel is made possible.
