New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the health workers of Kerala. Congratulations on using the vaccine given to the state without wasting a single drop. The Prime Minister's note was in response to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's tweet.

The State received 73,38,860 doses of vaccine from the Central Government. The state used the whole vaccine without a single drop of wastage. Each vaccine vial will have a dose of ten doses and an additional dose as a wastage factor.

Health workers and nurses in Kerala were able to give this extra dose to the people as they used it very carefully without wasting a single drop. So when we got 73,38,860 doses, the CM had said that we could use 74,26,164 doses.

Kerala has received 73,38,806 doses of vaccine from GoI. We've provided 74,26,164 doses, even making use of the extra dose available as wastage factor in each vial. Our health workers, especially nurses have been super efficient and deserve our wholehearted appreciation! - Pinarayi Vijayan tweeted.

Modi said that the health workers in Kerala who have used the vaccine effectively without wasting it are exemplary and the nurses, in particular, are very efficient and deserve commendation wholeheartedly. PM added that it would be better to reduce vaccine wastage to strengthen the fight against Covid-19.

Earlier, in a meeting with the Chief Minister, the PM had requested that not a single dose of Covid vaccine be wasted.

Good to see our healthcare workers and nurses set an example in reducing vaccine wastage. Reducing vaccine wastage is important in strengthening the fight against COVID-19, Narendra Modi tweeted.
