Kerala became the first Indian state to have high tech classrooms in all public schools. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will officiate the inauguration.

The high-tech smart class project was funded by KIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board). KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education) is the implementing agency for the project under the Department of Public Instruction.

3,74,274 digital devices were distributed to 16027 schools for the Smart Classroom project. In the first phase, 45,000 high-tech classrooms were set up in 4752 schools, including high schools and higher secondary schools. Hi-tech labs have also been set up in 11,275 schools at the primary and upper primary levels. In addition to the KIFB funding, the People's Representatives' Property Development Fund and Local Government Fund were utilized for the project.
