The girls, aged seven and four, were trapped in the car for about two hours. The deceased have been identified as Rajeshwari (7) and Vanitha (4) of Kallakurichi district in Tamil Nadu.

The incident happened while the children of the neighborhood were playing in the street in front of their house. While playing, the children climbed into a car parked nearby. The children were trapped in the car for about two hours.

The information that the children were trapped inside the car came out after some people saw the children unconscious inside the car. The locals rushed the children to the Tirukovilur General Hospital but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said, the car was involved in an accident two years ago and has not been used since. The doors of this car cannot be opened from the inside and can only be opened from the outside. They have not yet received a complaint about the incident but have voluntarily filed a case and will question the owner of the car. Police officials added.
