The Government of India, or Indian IT ministry has banned as many as 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok, UC Browser and WeChat, Likee, WeChat, and Bigo Live. The banning has been relating to data security and safeguarding the privacy of 130 crore Indians.

Chinese business giants including Alibaba, Tencent, TR Capital and Hillhouse Capital, have invested over $5.5 billion in start-ups in India, over 2015-19. Indian government has banned these apps under section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has also sent an exhaustive recommendation for blocking these malicious apps.
