Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs): Symptoms and Causes

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are neoplasms that arise from cells of the endocrine (hormonal) and nervous systems. several are benign, while some are malignant. The most commonly occur within the intestine, where they're usually known as carcinoid tumors, however, they're also found in the pancreas, lung, and the rest of the body.

Although there are several kinds of NETs, they're treated as a bunch of tissue because the cells of these neoplasms share common features, like looking similar, having special secretory granules, and often producing biogenic amines and polypeptide hormones.
