Microwave gets heated by its vibrating water molecules. Even hard-boiled eggs hold enough moisture for the molecules to heat up to steam. The egg-shell keeps the steam inside until the pressure build-up enough to collapse the shell. Then the shell gets exploded and the steam is let out in a fraction of a second, which means 'exploding' the egg!
